Heaton Manor Creche was part of the new Heaton Manor School built by Bovis Lend Lease under the Newcastle PFI Schools Project.
Northern Construction Solutions were appointed Main and Principal Contractor by Bovis Lend Lease for the civil and building works.
Due to tight budget constraints, Northern Construction Solutions worked with the PFI Project Team to develop a solution that satisfied the End Users operational requirements whilst still meeting the overall budget.
The works comprised a 100m² extension to provide a new Crèche facility and Playgroup area, together with toilets, kitchen and storage cupboards.
The construction of the new crèche facility was undertaken during term time, working within a busy and demanding ‘live’ school environment. Throughout the works, Northern Construction Solutions maintained the safety of the school pupils and staff, and also the uninterrupted operation of the school curriculum.
The works were delivered with no incidents, to programme and to budget.
