The contract required Northern Construction Solutions to construct a new floor slab within the confines of an existing warehouse unit at Federation Brewery’s Gateshead site. This work was part of the refurbishment programme for the Brewery to provide additional storage for pallets on the site.
The project consisted of the trimming of existing sub-base material to within the required tolerance, followed by the placing of a 200mm thick mesh reinforced concrete slab over the 850m² area.
Value Engineering of the job enabled the original minimum of two concrete pours to be reduced to one, therefore providing the client with a saving on their programme.
