The contract required Northern Construction Solutions to construct a factory floor and office slab as part of a new production facility for Gliderol Doors.
The area of the slab was over 4000m² and consisted of slab depths varying from 150mm to 250mm. The thicker slabs were reinforced with mesh in the top and bottom with the remainder having one layer in the bottom.
Close cooperation with Interserve and some innovative ideas with control joint layouts enabled us to produce a scheme which kept the number of slab pours to a minimum but optimised the accuracy of the finished levels.
Over 700m³ of fibre mesh concrete was pumped into position and finished to the required tolerances using a combination of vibrating rolling beams, hand held vibrating “Magic Screeds” and lasers.
