The contract consisted of the construction of the edge beam and approx 1500m² of 225mm thick mesh reinforced slab to category 1VNA warehouse for flatness tolerance. To achieve this high tolerance an innovative scheme involving precast concrete screed rails levelled to a tolerance of ± 2mm was used.
An active part was played by Northern Construction Solutions in the design process of the slab to produce a layout which met the clients requirements and was buildable.
The tight programme was achieved by careful planning and liaising regularly with the various interfacing trades and contractors. This allowed the client to use the area for storage within five weeks of commencement of the contract.
