NCS NEWSNovember / December 2011We are pleased to announce that Northern Construction Solutions has been selected by Sport England to support their framework for the Design and Construction of Innovative Modular Building Solutions and the Design and Construction of Building Modernisation Improvements & Upgrades (North East). The requirements include visiting and surveying sites for condition and suitability, preparing feasibility reports including outline design proposals, consulting with local Planning and Building Control departments, preparation and submission of necessary Planning and Building Control applications and developing detailed design solutions as well as the construction process itself. The framework will provide Clients with an informed ‘one stop shop’ for their project. This 4 year framework agreement is a part of a new strategy by Sport England to facilitate the delivery of new and upgraded sports facilities across England initially in support of the £50m Inspired themed round of the Places People Play programme, but also subsequent funding programmes. The framework agreement is also available for use directly by other public sector bodies and National Governing Bodies of Sport, etc in England with the aim that community level projects are provided in line with Sport England’s best practice documentation and Design Guidance Notes. September/October 2011We are delighted to announce that SMD Ltd have appointed Northern Construction Solutions to construct a Portal Framed Workshop at their Turbina Works in Wallsend. We are pleased to advise our appointment as the specialist ground-works contractor to County Life Homes Ltd at their site in Shaftoe Crescent Hexham. The project comprises the groundworks package for the construction of 4 houses on the site of a former garage. August 2011We are pleased to announce that The RNLI has appointed Northern Construction Solutions to construct an extension to the existing lifeboat station along with river wall works at Staithes near Whitby. We are pleased to announce that The University of Sunderland has awarded Northern Construction Solutions the refurbishment contract at St Peter’s Data Centre in the Reg Vardy Building of the Sir Tom Cowie Campus in Sunderland. Work involves the Alteration and refurbishment of an existing building to create a Data Centre.
April/May 2011Northern Construction Solutions were thrilled to be awarded the contract to build the new Prudhoe Community Library. The project includes the demolition of the current library and construction of a new community library along with associated external works.

October 2010NCS Build are delighted to be awarded the Newbiggin Maritime Centre contract by The Newbiggin by the Sea Heritage Partnership. The project includes the demolition of the existing structure and the construction of a new heritage centre as well as external works. October 2010NCS Build is also delighted to be awarded the contract to build a new computer suite extension and canopy in Brotton. This project for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is at St Margaret’s Way Children’s Home, which provides support for children with disabilities and their families by providing short break care.
October 2010NCS Civils have successfully completed the Phase II at Egger UK Plant in Hexham. The works included: Large diameter drainage; Attenuation systems; Oil storage building; Kerbing; Road re-alignment; Reinforced concrete retaining wall; Foundations; Fifty seven in situ reinforced concrete columns over ten metres in height. Additional works were also undertaken including removal and disposal of contaminated soils and concrete surround to a further nine steel columns. Further projects are also commencing on site.
New Starters in 2010During 2010 we had three new starters join our team: Arthur Richardson joined us as Estimator; Karen Parkin as Business Development Co-ordinator and Nick Kulinich as Quantity Surveyor. All are a very welcome addition to our successful team.
July 2010Northern Construction Solutions were delighted to sponsor the first Burgham Horse Festival held in Northumberland on 23 – 25 July 2010. Northern Construction Solutions sponsored the Power and Speed event on Sunday 25 July, which drew a list of well known competitors including several members of the Whitaker family.
March 2009Northern Construction Solutions were delighted to be part of the award winning project St Peter’s Sixth Form College which received Educational Building of the Year, awarded to the Client and Architect for the quality of workmanship. This project was adjacent to the River Wear and very close to the city centre next to a proposed world heritage site. NCS Ltd’s involvement in the project included the construction of a substation and paving. |
